Bambrella® is a globally recognised brand specialising in the design and manufacture of premium commercial parasols crafted from bamboo, aluminium and stainless steel. Founded in 2008 by Rupert Bottomley—former wooden boat builder and founder of the Woodstocks International Group—the brand is built on a strong heritage of craftsmanship, engineering and innovation. Woodstocks International, established in 1996, originally focused on producing high-quality garden furniture and parasols in Indonesia, forming the foundations of what would become Bambrella.
Drawing on decades of hands-on experience, Rupert Bottomley brought together traditional craftsmanship and modern engineering to develop Bambrella’s distinctive parasol range. Known for patented designs and advanced construction methods, Bambrella parasols are engineered to deliver outstanding strength, performance and visual appeal, meeting the demands of both commercial and residential environments.
All Bambrella parasols are manufactured in-house at dedicated production facilities, ensuring full control over quality at every stage. Each product undergoes rigorous testing to guarantee long-term durability and reliability in real-world conditions. A Word from Rupert….
Bambrella® designs and manufactures the strongest bamboo and aluminium high quality commercial parasols available. Bambrella® Ltd were formed in 2008 by Rupert Bottomley founder and CEO of the Woodstocks International group. The Woodstock group began manufacturing garden furniture and parasols in Indonesia in 1996. Rupert’s vast wealth of experience gained over many years in this industry inspired him to design and create Bambrella® parasols. Bambrella® use unique patented designs and innovative technology to manufacture parasols of unrivalled quality. All parasols are produced in our own factory and are rigorously tested to ensure superior, unsurpassed quality.
In 2010 we expanded our manufacturing operation into China and began the production of Bambrella® parasols. The reason for the move from Indonesia was the plentiful supply of superior Moso bamboo. Moso bamboo is the only bamboo which can be processed and treated for outdoor use. It is also available with FSC® certification. Bambrella® has proven to be the highest quality laminated bamboo parasol on the market. One reason for its durability is its ability to resist the inherent problem that inferior products suffer, which is mould and mildew occurring when bamboo is exposed to the elements.
This effective resistance has taken years of testing to achieve. Another reason is the patented joint system which enables us to hot press and glue long lengths of laminations. These innovations make it very difficult for other manufacturers to replicate the quality of Bambrella®. Independent laboratory-testing has been conducted for mould and mildew defence and the ability to prevent de-lamination; gives us and our customers’ confidence in this exellent product.
Our mission at Bambrella® is to supply commercial, contract and domestic users with a strong, durable and well-designed parasol which will last for many years. At Bambrella® we constantly look to improve and enhance our product range, and we are currently designing and testing an exciting new range of outdoor furniture using high-quality modern materials combined with bamboo.
